Music in the Air

Spring Concert Series
on The Steps

Just steps outside Millennium Tower’s front door, Shoppers Plaza is buzzing with afternoon delights. It’s May in downtown Boston and all is right again — planters full of yellow daffodils and purple lilacs reach up towards the sun and city goers stop for a lunch break on The Steps. Joe Weinberg, the renowned solo jazz artist, starts moving with his guitar and the chords of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly me to the Moon” fill the open-air plaza.

Mr. Weinberg is just one of the many acclaimed New England artists who will be performing free shows for the public at Shoppers Plaza this season. The Performances on The Steps will include regular sets by Mr. Weinberg every Monday from noon to 2:00 p.m.

The world-renowned Berklee College of Music will also bring its “Summer in the City Concert Series” to The Steps, featuring different performances and genres, including folk, pop, Latin, and jazz, each week.

Grab a cup of coffee or tea from Caffè Nero and head to Shoppers Plaza for an afternoon of smooth jazz and people watching on The Steps. And the best part is that it’s all right here, right in your backyard.

Berklee College of Music will bring students and artists with international backgrounds to perform for the Summer in the City Concert Series. Preview the sounds of Samuel Batista, an alto saxophone player, born in Panama City, Panama below:
