AnneAlise Bonistalli, FLX Wellness Director, is pumped about finally pursuing her true passion: providing all-encompassing, personalized wellness plans to a select group of clients who want to integrate health and fitness into every aspect of their lifestyle. AnneAlise recently spoke with HERE about her new role at FLX:

AnneAlise:

I started my own private practice called a.b.fit in 2010 where I worked with clients all over the greater Boston area. Over the course of several years, I was running a suite of services in other luxury buildings—everything from physical therapy to nutrition to yoga— with other experts in the field. So I spent a lot of time working with luxury properties and networking. When Millennium Partners offered me the FLX opportunity, I was ready. Much like what I had been doing, Millennium Tower provides five-star services. I knew that by teaming up, I could take my vision to the next level.

I believe wellness is not just about doing one thing. Wellness is not just going for a run; wellness is not just cardio, doing abs or stretching. It’s all the above. It takes into account the full body, which includes individual diet, previous injuries, strengths, flexibility and mobility. We take it all into account and work through all the details. And no two wellness plans are alike.

The FLX program brings all the components of health and fitness together. We have a team of seven experts who work together and come up with personalized plans specific to each resident. FLX isn’t like other gyms…the client is always our full focus and we’re here to support them with a level of expertise and touchpoints they won’t get any place else.

We start with a complimentary private consult. Each participant is asked to complete a brief health history and fitness screening profile before they enter the FLX space. That gives us a baseline assessment. It’s also an opportunity for residents to learn how to use our Technogym equipment and ask questions.

Once the session is complete, my team builds out a program specific to each resident’s needs. We enter exercises into your individual profile, which can be accessed each time you visit the fitness center through Technogym. This profile can be accessed on the go with the HERE App, too.

That’s what makes it so great! Whether you’re at the tower, outside going for a run, or on vacation on the other side of the world, you have the support of a dietician, physical therapist and private instructors to keep you on track and help you in all areas where you want to improve.

The team that we have. It’s rare to find a group with the energy and drive to not only create a unique experience for our clientele, but to work together and build something from scratch as a team. Before joining Millennium, I built relationships with sports medicine facilities and other experts in the industry. I spent months visiting dozens of studios around the greater Boston area to recruit talent that aligned with my vision for the FLX program…it was a very long process [haha!]. Now we’re working on getting to know all the residents personally and building a space that people really want to make a part of their lives.

I want to build a community of individuals who are engaged with the different aspects of wellness. We plan to organize a yoga program….a triathlon program. Things like that. Really, we look forward to developing any type of program that residents say they want. We are constantly looking to expand on the wants and needs of residents and are always open to suggestions and feedback.

As more residents settle into their homes at Millennium, and our community continues to grow, so will the FLX program. The level of technology and ability to reach and exceed your goals is like no other. We anticipate that each month we will add new classes, with add-ons and adjusted times. For example, we’re working on a children’s program and a variety of dance classes. These experiences are unlike any other in Boston and that’s what makes living in Millennium Tower so unique.

flx2It’s easy to get de-motivated and postpone your fitness routine until the start of the New Year. But these quick tips from your FLX Wellness Director AnneAlise Bonistalli will help you give yourself the ultimate holiday gift: no extra pounds!

Set up a weekly fitness schedule.

The holidays are busy, busy, busy. Map out your schedule for the week just as you would a business meeting. Reserve your classes in advance and set up your training sessions a few weeks out to help you stay the course.

Rise and shine first thing.

As the sun sets earlier and the days shorten, set the alarm 30 minutes to an hour earlier to complete your workout first thing in the morning. With holiday parties and post-work gatherings filling your calendar, it’s often hard to get motivated later in the evening. Try this 15-minute routine to get your morning started (repeat 10 repetitions for as many rounds as you can)

  • Jumping jacks
  • Squats
  • Shoulder taps
  • Clock lunges
  • Sit-ups
  • Russian twists

Find time to de-stress.

While the holidays can be fun and action-packed, all the hustle-and-bustle can leave some of us feeling on edge. Yoga is an excellent way to reduce stress. Whether it’s at the start of the day or during your lunch break, try to find your inner balance with these poses:

  • Camel
  • Crescent lunge twist
  • Inversions

shutterstock_143974642With the holidays come a month full of festive treats and family feasts. How can you limit temptation and maintain healthy eating habits? FLX Wellness Director AnneAlise Bonistalli has a few tips and tricks.

Hydrate.

As the weather turns colder—especially in New England—water intake can fall by the wayside. Drink half your body weight in ounces daily. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, get at least 60 ounces of water daily. Keep a bottle of water close by to sip on throughout the day.

Never go to a dinner party hungry.

Have a snack before you go! Apples with almond butter or carrots with hummus are both healthy, but yummy options. Are you one of those people who won’t eat all day when you know there will be a bountiful meal later? This is a recipe for disaster–and digestive distress! Snack smart, in advance.

Bring a healthy treat to the party.

Speak with the host or hostess ahead of time and offer to bring a healthy dish. Roasted vegetables make a nutritious and guilt-free addition to any gathering. When you fill up on fibrous vegetables, you’ll be more likely to pass on the dessert table.
