Meet Tom Otero, Director of Security
November 2017 _____
HERE:
Tell us a little about yourself…
How did you get involved in the security industry?
What do you like most about working at Millennium Tower?
What sort of activities do you like to do around the city?
What would you consider to be a “MASTERPIECE” in Boston?
Tom:
I’m a former U.S. Marine Corp and New York City police officer from Brooklyn, N.Y. I moved to Boston a little more than 15 years ago to be closer to my family and I’m currently living on the North Shore. I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the gym, and watching or playing sports. I’m a die-hard N.Y Mets and Giants fan… the Red Sox are ok, too (ha-ha!).
I’ve been involved in some aspect of security for more than 20 years. After my experiences with the NYPD and USMC, I held a regional vice president position for a national security company overseeing 10,000 man hours per week. I’ve also worked in security operations, security sales, and remote supervision. This type of work just seems to fit my natural inclination to “protect and serve.”
The people! Without a doubt. Both the residents and staff are the best I’ve had the opportunity of working with. This team has a genuine willingness to go above and beyond and is always trying to anticipate the resident’s needs. I think this type of mindset stems from the on-site leadership we receive from General Manager Brian Clark – a true professional and one of the best (if not the best) leader a team could ask for!
I love going to sporting events. I go regularly to Fenway to catch the Red Sox or to the Garden to watch the Celtics. I also love trying all the restaurants in town. So many great places to eat, but my favorite has to be Shabu-Zen in Chinatown.
I would have to say Fenway Park. It’s the oldest ballpark in baseball. The place is just so rich in history and tradition. Win or lose, it’s always a great place to go visit.
