It’s hard to go anywhere this time of year without being bombarded by the same handful of seasonal jingles. But outside Millennium Tower, the downtown neighborhood offers a variety of cultural traditions and musical ensembles worth pausing for.
THE NUTCRACKER
Whether you’re seeing it again or for the first time ever, the Boston Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” will take you on a magical journey to the Land of Enchantment. However, if you can’t make it to the show, keep an eye out for a special upcoming La Vie event in the new year.

BLACK NATIVITY
Boston’s production of the “Black Nativity” is the longest-running performance of Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes’ song-play in the world. With singing, dancing, and the Gospel of St. Luke, the theatrical show delivers a powerful message of joy, hope, victory, and liberation.

THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
The Museum of Fine Arts Boston is celebrating Hanukkah by offering an all-access pass to their Judaica collection of antique menorahs and Jewish artifacts. Join the Festival of Lights with a special community lighting, musical performances, tours, and more.

A SEASONAL SING-ALONG
Come one, come all for a seasonal sing-along. Even if you and your family are not familiar with the songs, a streaming video will feature the lyrics for all to join in.

A CELTIC SOJOURN
With more than a decade of holiday performances, Brian O’Donovan’s “A Celtic Sojourn” draws on Celtic, Pagan, and Christian traditions with seasonal music and dancing. Enjoy a phenomenal fiddle section, strong harmony singing, and spectacular dancing by the Teelin Irish Dance Company and the Harney Academy of Irish Dance.
