Well, I was born and bred in South Boston… just four miles from where Millennium Tower currently stands. After I finished high school, I opened my first salon in 1990 on Newbury Street. From there, I opened salons in the Equinox Sports Club in Boston and Lincoln Center and Rockefeller Center in New York City. Millennium Partners was managing the Equinox Boston location and I got to see first-hand what they were all about from a five-star luxury business perspective. When the luxury real estate market in Boston took off, I realized that this was a great opportunity to become an essential lifestyle amenity in a place like Millennium Tower. I knew I had something really special to add. We’re not just giving residents access to a salon, we’re giving them a total lifestyle experience.

Let me first say that this is a very unique environment. We don’t have a lot of space, but we’re extremely creative with how we use it and how we deploy our services. Residents here can book world-class skincare, massages and medical spa treatments…and of course, hair, nails and makeup. It’s really an amazing menu of services totally based on what our clients want and need.

We’re creating great value for residents in a highly pampering environment. You have this incredible salon right downstairs, but if the room is booked, we can bring everything literally right to your home. If you’re having a busy day, you can sit back and relax on the couch while getting a manicure or pedicure. Gentlemen can get a professional shave in the morning before work. We get to know our clients and literally integrate our services into their lives. This is all about making the residents comfortable and giving them an experience that is totally about them.

The residents, for sure. These are really active, engaged people who understand the importance of having hair, skin and massage services as seamless parts of their lives. They see the benefit in preserving their health and appearance and, at the end of the day, it’s about forming a unique partnership to take them to the next level.

We have a world-class team. People were calling me left and right to become part of FLX, but I wanted to make sure that they were the right fit. I focused on finding not just the talent, but the right personality—people who would really connect with residents and get to know them. My team and I are more than salon and spa pros, we are personal confidantes who are here to advise you on how you want to look and feel…giving you a plan to be your very best self.

The better we know our residents, the more we can continue to evolve and bring new services. I’m a very hands-on person and since I have salons in New York City, I have eyes on a bigger stage and am constantly researching and testing the latest technologies. What kind of results does it have? Is this something that would interest residents? These are all questions we’re asking. There are so many new things coming to the marketplace, but we want to make sure they’re the right fit and the highest quality. Some services might be moneymakers, but if it’s not something that we believe will benefit the residents, then we’re not going to introduce it to FLX.

We’re still in the early stages and what you see now is definitely not all you’re going to get. We understand the high expectations of the building and the residents and we’re confident that we can grow with the demand. The quality will be five-star all the way, but additional services, appointment availability and same day scheduling are all to come.
